Movement Coaching for Climbers
"Look for the foot holds."
"Trust your feet."
"Relax"
"Keep your arms straight."
"Use that rest."
"Slow down."
"Charge through this section."
"Commit!"
"The next hold is good."
"Shake Out"
"Breathe!"
All things I find myself saying when I'm coaching climbing movement and often in my own head when I'm climbing.
Climbing technique is subtle though.
Techniques read in books may look simple enough but need to be put into context.
I often use bouldering for movement coaching as it is a good environment to introduce techniques and allows me to watch the climber closely.
Many climbers have tried bouldering and not quite understood how to use it to good effect.
Bouldering allows you to "work" a problem. Eliminating errors, learning to follow a sequence, identifying correct body position and generally giving it a lot of determination is why bouldering gives great results when use effectively.
The importance of a good warm up, choosing appropriate problems, recognising the need to rest between attempts and avoiding injury are all important.
It all adds up to improvement in all aspects of your climbing.
Climbing Coaching per hour - £25 Ratio 1:1 or 1:2 Does not including facility entry.
6 x 1.5 hour sessions - £175
